Brian Torres travels to work and returns to Mexico in a coffin

With a clear goal in mind, Brian Torres, aged 21, traveled to Utah.

He planned to work diligently for a year and then return to Mexico, but a cowardly act would alter his plans forever.

«He was a good kid, but he was brutally murdered from behind,» writes Ashelly Sánchez, his younger sister, on a GoFundMe page.

Torres was born in the United States, but from an early age, he moved with his mother and grandmother to the state of Puebla in Mexico.

His trips to Utah became sporadic, and in 2023, he returned with the goal of earning money.

«On Friday, September 15, my brother was senselessly shot from behind in the city of West Valley,» says Sánchez.

The West Valley Police Department reported that they responded to an emergency call concerning a shooting. However, upon arriving at the scene, they pronounced the victim dead.

Witnesses told the officers that they had heard approximately six gunshots before finding the young man lifeless in the street.

They catch the murderer

Detectives quickly obtained a clear description of the suspect: a young white male, standing 5’8″ tall, weighing 150 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his neck bearing the number «662.»

A few hours later, authorities identified the alleged murderer as 19-year-old Esteban Gálvez, who, despite his young age, had a troubled past.

According to court documents, Gálvez’s record includes drug possession and a domestic assault, leading to a court-issued arrest warrant.

Despite the plethora of details available about the alleged killer, there is currently no solid lead on his whereabouts.
